Seems there was a little rufous hummingbird who got blown off course on its way south. The same weather system that gave the Pacific Northwest unusually chilly weather last week also blew this little guy from the PNW all the way to Minnesota.
In a great act of caring, the bird was flown in a personal jet down to Texas. I can't decide if that's heart-wearming or ostentatious. No, I have decided: its both. The article doesn't say, but I figure the volunteer pilot was planning on taking his plane south anyway so he let the bird hitch a ride.
One way or the other, its nice when we show the birds that we care.
