A colored version of my "Guess the Carol" Christmas activity sheet is now available for download on my Etsy shop. To create this piece, I drew from imagery in the original handout and redesigned for clarity. Some carols were dropped in favor of songs more familiar to today's audience. Each square was hand drawn and inked with traditional dip pen on bristol board, then brought into Photoshop for retouching and digital coloring.
I tried using a muted and limited color palette to give the squares a consistent look. In most cases, I did my best do limit it to 4 colors, which required some creative re-thinking of the elements. Generally, I tend to default to a local color system of choosing colors (in other words, I always color the sun yellow, grass green, sky blue, etc.). The simple restriction of available colors forced me to use different color solutions that I normally would have.
