It always happens- I'll find some great new artist mentioned in a lecture or an article and will scramble to jot down their name. Then I forget about them. Now I'm opening my notebook and digging back to finally look up those names with stars next to them.
Brigette Barrager is an illustrator loving in LA. I came across her children's book about a unicorn while killing time at the Pioneer Place Mall.
Her work uses bright colors and generally optimistic subject matter. I'm getting a Mary Blair feel to her look because of the drybrush marks and stylized flower patterns. I was first attracted to her stuff because I noticed she relies heavily on shapes and markmaking (traditional or digital I can't tell) but also uses line when its needed.
Overall very nice looking art. I'm glad I looked her up.
