It always happens- I'll find some great new artist mentioned in a lecture or an article and will scramble to jot down their name. Then I forget about them. Now I'm opening my notebook and digging back to finally look up those names with stars next to them.
More thoughts scribbled into my notebook during class. Claudia Pearson does a lot of illustration that gets put on products for the home, like towels, cups, home decor, etc. I was first drawn to her because of the really nicely made name on top of her page.
Which looked like the type used in my favorite movie. Looking at the two side by side, they're not too similar really. But at the time I scribbled my note I made the connection.
Claudia incorporates more gorgeous type into her pictures. I get an Eric Carle collage-y feel from some of the stuff. If I had to guess I would think it was digital collage. Mainly I'm reminded of my classmate Cate's stuff because of the use of bright watercolors, thin brush linework, and culinary subject matter. That "look" has a name. I wish I knew what it's called.
Dig Claudia's recipes that double as wall prints, like the peaches below. It's a neat idea to show the colors overlapping like that. Glad I put a star next to her name.
