Inspired by the artists I met at SPX 2016 and by my new city environment, I've made a little flock of pigeons! I always loved watching pigeons, the quirky way the move and bob about.
Lately I've been noticing the diversity of plumage types among them. The most typical is that "classic" model, with the light grey body and black wing bars. But each flock will also have one with a black and white checker flag wing, the mottled one that looks like he got splashed with paint, and even the little cinnamon ones that I've come to love. I have named them "the cinnapidge" and they're like the good luck birds of the flock!
Pigeons sometimes get a bad rap, with their reputation for being dirty or being "rats with wings". I've heard people call them ugly, especially the ones with non-standard plumage. I think all that is a little unfair. Pigeons live a hard life out there in the city, and like all birds, they are beautiful and worthy of love.
With that diversity of coloring in mind, I designed this set of 6 pigeons doing what they do best. My plan is to have sticker sheets ready for my next con, but for now I have a few neat products on Redbubble.
I'm adding these pretty birds to my gallery, but wanted to share them with you here first. Thanks for reading!
